Waimate lose @ home to Celts
Waimate lost our second round match against Celtic last weekend to make it one apiece with one round left. Next week we play Geraldine away and must win to stay in contention for a final berth, which may yet be decided on net run rate if the round robin results are even, and with 5 teams in contention there are heaps of possible outcomes, but first we need to WIN!
As for last weekend, Celtic batted first and Craig Davies (100) and Ryan de Joux (79) set the match up for Celtic in a huge opening partnership before Alan Reid was able to put some breaks on taking 4-28. The rest of the Celtic batsmen tried to score quickly without much luck, but still posted a challenging 272.
Waimate started positively and were 68-2 off 15 overs with Naffa and Rafferty both getting into the twenties but unfortunately not going on, while Bob really surprised by not being out lbw and getting into doubly figures, but in the end Waimate was all out in the 33rd over for 150, more than 100 runs short despite Jason ‘Lites’ Sew Hoy with 51 again trying to pull us out of the fire.
